Anyone who wants to enjoy the impressive mountain scenery in Hoch-Ybrig and let their gaze wander over the Central Swiss Alps can now do so on a very special bench: a wooden bench in the shape of an airplane seat.
Since 2016, Edelweiss, Switzerland's leading leisure airline, has been naming its aircraft after regions in Switzerland where the edelweiss flower grows, in keeping with its motto "Where Edelweiss is at home." On April 22, 2026, Edelweiss's first Airbus A320neo, registration HB-JDB, was christened "Hoch-Ybrig." With the name "Hoch-Ybrig," the Airbus has since carried a piece of the Swiss Alps to the world.
As a symbol of the partnership, an edelweiss bench was inaugurated today in the Hoch-Ybrig hiking and skiing area in the canton of Schwyz. Also present were representatives of the Einsiedeln-Ybrig-Zürichsee tourism region. The wooden bench, shaped like an airplane seat, is located near the Fuederegg restaurant and offers a beautiful view of the Central Swiss Alps. Next to the bench, a signpost indicates the direction and distance to some of the holiday destinations served by the Airbus A320neo "Hoch-Ybrig".
The bench was officially inaugurated by Nina Wach, Head of Brand Management & Marketing Communication at Edelweiss, and Oskar Nauer, member of the Oberiberg municipal council and board member of Hoch-Ybrig AG. Together, they christened the bench with a symbolic champagne shower. Musical accompaniment was provided by "diä lüpfige Chüehtriiber" with their Schwyzerörgeli (Swiss accordions).
“The fact that an Edelweiss aircraft bears the name Hoch-Ybrig is a special joy for our region. This means the name of our mountain world travels far beyond Switzerland. The new bench is a beautiful symbol of this connection and invites our guests to linger and enjoy the view,” says Oskar Nauer.
And Nina Wach adds: “We want to bring the connection between Edelweiss and Hoch-Ybrig to life. Both brands stand for Swiss values, for nature, experiences, and the joy of discovering new places. Through this partnership, we can make these commonalities visible and inspire our guests for their next trip. And at the same time, we're bringing a piece of Edelweiss here – quite literally with the bench and, of course, with the aircraft that bears the name ‘Hoch-Ybrig’.”
