Zurich danced through San Diego
Anyone who's always wanted to discover "America's Finest City" had the opportunity to do so on Friday, May 5th, right in the heart of Zurich. Leading Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss, together with representatives from the USA, hosted a party night at Aura and brought San Diego to Switzerland for a night. The reason for this was the new direct connection between Zurich and California.
"Check-in for San Diego has begun" - with this announcement, an unforgettable party night began for guests at the Aura in Zurich on Friday, May 5, 2017. The reason: Edelweiss will be flying nonstop to the Californian dream destination starting June 9, 2017. In 12 hours and 5 minutes, you'll get up close to the sun. To kick things off, the airline, together with San Diego International Airport, the San Diego Tourism Authority, and Visit California, invited guests to a night in the metropolis - all without leaving Zurich. With party tunes from resident DJs from San Diego and impressions of the city's most beautiful spots, such as Balboa Park and Mission Boulevard, the dream destination came close to home.
San Diego within reach
"The party was a fantastic opportunity to show our guests what they can expect in San Diego," says Alain Chisari, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss. Indeed, in the aura of the skyline, beach cruisers, and surfers, one felt more like they were in the land of opportunity than in Zurich. April Boling, Chairman of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, is also delighted about the new flight connection: "Guests from Switzerland can look forward to fast processing times and short distances, as our airport is located almost in the heart of the city." And Philip Hannes, Senior Director of International Marketing for the San Diego Tourism Authority, is convinced: "San Diego offers an exciting mix of beach and city vacations."
With these prospects, even the odd raindrop won't matter. After all, there's now a simple remedy for bad weather: simply hop on a plane, and thanks to Edelweiss, just 12 hours and 5 minutes later you'll be surfing, relaxing on the beach, and enjoying one of San Diego's 300 days of sunshine a year.
