With Edelweiss directly to Las Vegas and Havana

Edelweiss now flies nonstop from Zurich to two new destinations, Las Vegas and Havana. The inaugural flights to Cuba's capital and the entertainment metropolis were celebrated this week at Zurich Airport with many surprises.

Since this week, Edelweiss has been connecting Switzerland with Las Vegas and Havana. While Switzerland's leading leisure airline flies to the world-famous entertainment metropolis in the USA every Monday and Friday, the direct flight to the largest city in the Caribbean takes place on Thursday. The new destinations were ceremoniously inaugurated this week. On Monday, May 5, showgirls greeted passengers on the inaugural flight to Las Vegas at check-in. The departure gate was transformed into a casino with blackjack and roulette tables, and an Elvis Presley impersonator created a lively atmosphere before the flight. Passersby at Zurich Airport were also able to try their luck on various slot machines throughout the day, giving them a taste of Las Vegas. On Thursday, May 8, the inaugural flight to Havana was inaugurated with a rhythmic celebration: the Cuban band "Son Alarde" played at the gate, and several dance couples entice passengers to join in with passionate salsa performances.

Insider tip as a new destination
Las Vegas and Havana are impressive new destinations, offering a wide range of diverse vacation options. "We're now flying to Las Vegas because it was a major request from our customers," says Edelweiss CEO Karl Kistler, "and the current capacity utilization shows us that we've hit the mark." Zurich is only the third European city, after London and Paris, to offer direct round-trip flights to Las Vegas year-round. While the desert city is considered an entertainment metropolis, it has much more to offer than just gambling and shows. Las Vegas is an ideal starting point for a trip through the Western USA and can be combined with the SWISS destinations of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

"Havana, on the other hand, is an insider tip," explains Karl Kistler. "Tourism is booming and diversifying – tours in particular are becoming increasingly popular and can be arranged individually." With its old town and the striking contrast between culture and modernity, Havana is a city for explorers. The capital is not only a vibrant Caribbean metropolis, but is also located close to the popular beach resorts around Varadero.

New infrastructure for best service
Edelweiss' long-haul aircraft are currently being retrofitted, significantly upgrading the cabin. Business Class will be equipped with lie-flat seats and a new entertainment system with 16-inch screens. In addition, the new "Economy Max" service class will be introduced, offering passengers 15 centimeters more legroom and many other amenities for a comfortable journey. Economy Class will also be upgraded with new seats and a new entertainment system with touchscreens. This is intended to ensure the best possible service for passengers. "We look forward to pampering our customers in the new cabins starting in mid-June," says Karl Kistler.
