Two airplane seats in Villars-sur-Ollon

Anyone who wants to admire the impressive mountain scenery in Villars-sur-Ollon and enjoy the tranquility of the Vaud Alps can now do so on two very special benches: wooden benches shaped like airplane seats.
Since 2016, Swiss holiday airline Edelweiss has been naming its aircraft after regions where the queen of Alpine flowers is native, in line with its motto “Where Edelweiss is at home.” Edelweiss flowers also grow around Villars-sur-Ollon. For this reason, an Edelweiss Airbus A320 was christened “Villars-sur-Ollon” on September 1, 2023.
As a sign of the partnership, representatives of Edelweiss and the Villars-sur-Ollon region inaugurated two Edelweiss benches yesterday, Thursday, at the Grand Chamossaire viewpoint. From there, there is an impressive panoramic view of the Vaud Alps. In addition to the wooden benches, a signpost indicates the direction and distance to some of the holiday destinations served by the Airbus A320 “Villars-sur-Ollon.”
The benches were officially inaugurated in the presence of their godparents Markus Gander, former Chief Product Officer of Edelweiss, and Caroline Ganz de Meyer, municipal councilor of Ollon. Accompanied by an alphorn duo, the benches were inaugurated with a symbolic champagne shower.
