Spain and Greece most popular this summer
For the start of the summer holidays, Edelweiss is offering 55 destinations worldwide from Zurich. Its short- and medium-haul offerings include 48 destinations in 17 countries. On short-haul routes, Edelweiss offers the same capacity as in the pre-COVID summer of 2019. On long-haul routes, Edelweiss is flying to seven destinations in six countries this summer.
In addition to its existing holiday destinations, Edelweiss has added six new destinations to its route network this summer. Starting in July, flights will be served to Montego Bay in Jamaica and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Also starting in July will be flights to Reykjavik/Keflavik in Iceland, Preveza/Lefkada and Skiathos in Greece, and Tivat in Montenegro. The flights can be booked at flyedelweiss.com and through all usual sales channels.

Since the previous FOPH risk country list was lifted, bookings for summer holidays have increased significantly. This is confirmed by Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss: "We see a strong desire among the Swiss population for holidays abroad. Due to the increasing demand, we have decided to fly to popular holiday destinations several times a day or with a larger aircraft type."
The top destinations this summer are Heraklion/Crete (Greece), followed by Ibiza (Spain), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Mykonos (Greece), and Tenerife (Spain). This summer's most popular long-haul destination is Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Travel preparation is even more important this year than before
The redesigned Edelweiss website offers a new and comprehensive source of inspiration for vacation planning. "We've completely redesigned the Edelweiss vacation destinations website and now offer useful information, exciting stories, and fascinating videos about the destinations. This makes finding the right vacation destination even more exciting and easier," says Patrick Heymann.
Information regarding entry requirements at your destination is particularly important during this time. Although entry into most European countries has been significantly eased in recent days, a negative PCR test is still required in many countries. Edelweiss is simplifying travel planning with two new services. You can now purchase a travel-approved PCR test for home use via the Edelweiss website. In addition, all Edelweiss guests have access to an expanded range of information for each holiday destination, including the most important COVID-19 regulations and on-site testing options.
