Edelweiss flies to Puerto Plata from July 2
With Puerto Plata, Edelweiss' existing tourism offerings in the Caribbean (Cancún in Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Havana in Cuba, and Montego Bay in Jamaica) and in Central America (San José in Costa Rica) will be further expanded. Edelweiss' Caribbean and Central American destinations will again be served up to 12 times weekly in July.
Puerto Plata, the holiday paradise on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, is equally popular with young people, families, sun worshippers, water sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers. The nearby beaches of Sosúa and Cabarete are not only ideal for beach holidays, but also attract divers, kitesurfers, and windsurfers. Puerto Plata is also the ideal starting point for excursions into the impressive natural surroundings.
"We're currently noticing that the need for seaside holidays is greater than ever. We're pleased to be able to offer our guests another safe holiday destination just in time for the summer holidays," says Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer at Edelweiss.
The safety and well-being of tourists and local employees is a top priority for the Dominican Republic. Petra Cruz, European Director of the Dominican Republic Tourist Board, stated: "The Dominican Republic is managing the COVID-19 situation thanks to its rapid response and certified protocols. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), recently visited the country to witness this firsthand. He confirmed that the country is safe, well prepared to welcome tourists, and a best-practice example of how tourism is possible in times of COVID-19."
Starting July 2, 2021, Edelweiss will fly directly from Zurich to Puerto Plata every Friday.
