Edelweiss celebrated two maiden flights recently. On Friday, June 3, 2022, an Airbus A320 took off for the first time to Pisa, Italy. As is tradition, the ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the gate shortly before takeoff. In addition to Rolf Hancock, Vice President Aviation Development at Zurich Airport, David Birrer, Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss, was present. "It was an honor to be part of this celebratory occasion. I am delighted that with Pisa we are now serving another holiday destination in Italy," said Birrer. Edelweiss will fly to Pisa twice a week from Zurich until September.
Two more destinations in Norway
Another inaugural flight took place on Saturday, June 4, 2022, to Bergen in southwest Norway. Also on Saturday, Edelweiss reinstated the Tromsø route in its summer schedule. Both destinations will be served twice weekly from Zurich until September. Edelweiss' summer schedule currently consists of 59 short- and medium-haul destinations and 19 long-haul destinations.
