Edelweiss celebrates its first flight to São Vicente in Cape Verde.

Summary
  • First flight to São Vicente on Wednesday, October 29

  • Ceremonial ribbon cutting at the gate

  • Edelweiss now offers four Cape Verde destinations.

Today, Wednesday, the inaugural flight from Zurich to the Cape Verdean island of São Vicente took place with a celebratory ceremony at Zurich Airport. During the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss, and Clara Delgado Jesus, Ambassador of Cape Verde, together with the crew, cut the ribbon, officially opening the new route.

With Praia, another new destination is being added to the Cape Verde archipelago: The inaugural flight departs tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, 2025. Flights to São Vicente and Praia will operate weekly, with a stopover on the island of Sal. Both destinations offer the perfect starting point for island hopping. São Vicente and its neighboring island of Santo Antão are well-connected by ferry and are considered a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. Many tours of the Cape Verde islands begin here.

With the addition of São Vicente and Praia, Edelweiss expands its portfolio to four destinations in Cape Verde, offering a sunny and diverse travel destination in the Atlantic. The islands impress with their varied landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality – ideal for those seeking relaxation and discovery away from mass tourism.
