David Birrer new Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss
David Birrer will join Edelweiss's Executive Board as Chief Operating Officer and Accountable Manager effective March 1, 2022. In his new role, he will assume overall strategic and operational responsibility for Edelweiss's flight operations. He has served as Managing Director and Accountable Manager of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG for four years. David Birrer succeeds Daniel Landert at Edelweiss, who will leave the company at the end of February 2022 after four years in this role and join the Swiss Air-Rescue Rega as designated Head of Jet Operations and member of the Executive Board.
Before becoming Managing Director and Accountable Manager of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG, the 46-year-old Swiss national held various management positions at Swiss AviationTraining AG from 2009 to 2017, gaining ten years of international experience as an engineer, head of project management, and head of marketing and strategy in the radio and TV broadcast industry.
In addition to his studies in electrical engineering and communications technology at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Birrer completed a postgraduate degree in industrial engineering, an Executive Master in Business Administration, and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
