A fairytale connection

In the car-free Braunwald, hikers and visitors with a little luck might spot a small edelweiss growing shyly in a corner. Since Tuesday, March 14, the queen of alpine flowers can also be admired in an XXL version – shaped like an airplane seat.

The enchanting Braunwald in Glarus is one of the most beautiful spots in Switzerland. It's no coincidence that the iconic edelweiss feels particularly at home here. Leading Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss took this opportunity to name an Airbus after the region, thus sharing its beauty with the world. In return, Braunwald received a small piece of the airline's heritage on Tuesday, March 14: A bench shaped like an airplane seat now adorns the mountain landscape, inviting hikers and passersby to linger.

Tradition and adventure
The rest area enjoyed a lively opening: Fridolin Hösli, Managing Director of Braunwald-Klausenpass Tourismus AG, Corinne Römer, Senior Marketing Manager at Edelweiss, and Andreas Meier, Senior Manager Head of Corporate Communications at Edelweiss, along with various guests, arrived on board the world-unique Gumen combined cable car to witness the unveiling. And another special couple was there: Gabriela Heer, who works for Braunwald-Klausenpass Tourismus AG, met her twin sister Sonja Heer, a flight attendant at Edelweiss. Corinne Römer summed it up: "The Edelweiss, the unique view from above, and now the two sisters – Edelweiss and Braunwald simply belong together." Hösli added: "Braunwald and Edelweiss stand for Swiss tradition and family friendliness, and that's what unites us." From now on, one or two families can already dream of their next vacation on the Edelweiss bench. Have a nice trip!
