Immerse yourself in the world of travel with Edelweiss

With the newly opened Edelweiss Hub, Edelweiss has created a 300 m² space dedicated to travel inspiration and anticipation for the next vacation. Guests can discover the diversity of the Edelweiss world and find inspiration for their next flight. Using VR headsets, they can virtually experience destinations around the globe, playfully test their geography knowledge with the Edelweiss GeoQuiz, and discover new travel destinations. The integrated café invites guests to linger with refreshments and snacks, while a selection of Edelweiss merchandise offers the opportunity to take a piece of the vacation feeling home with them.

The upper floor includes additional office space, primarily used for Edelweiss's assessment and training programs. It also houses the Customer Experience & Product Hub, which communicates Edelweiss's brand identity, service promise, and products throughout the entire customer journey, making the various brand touchpoints tangible.

The Edelweiss Hub is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Until the end of the year, the focus will be on Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic, and Egypt, providing inspiration for your next vacation.

Interested visitors will also have the opportunity to get to know the Edelweiss Hub during two open days on September 25th and 26th, 2026, and to discover the diverse offerings of the new experience world.

More capacity for autumn holidays by the sea

In October, Edelweiss is increasing capacity on several popular holiday routes. On Fridays and Sundays from October to mid-November, Edelweiss will deploy the significantly larger Airbus A340 to Gran Canaria. This will provide considerably more seats on these flights. An Airbus A340 will also be used on Monday flights to Tenerife and Saturday flights to Rhodes in October. Rhodes will also have an additional flight on October 30th.

Significantly more capacity is also available for travel to Crete: Saturday flights to Heraklion will be operated with the larger Airbus A350 instead of an Airbus A320. Furthermore, the destination will be served until the beginning of December.

Edelweiss will expand its service to Mallorca in October with several additional flights and larger aircraft. This creates extra travel options for those who want to extend their summer under the southern sun.

Additional flights over Christmas and New Year

Edelweiss is further expanding its long-haul flight offerings for the particularly popular travel period around Christmas and New Year's. From December 14, 2026, to January 11, 2027, Cape Town will have an additional flight every Monday. This provides guests with more travel options to South Africa over the holiday season.

There are also additional travel options to popular island destinations in the Indian Ocean. Malé in the Maldives will be served every Sunday from December 20, 2026, to January 10, 2027. Edelweiss will offer additional flights to the Seychelles and Mauritius every Friday from December 18, 2026, to January 8, 2027. This creates more opportunities to spend the holidays on white sandy beaches under the tropical sun.

Even more winter magic in Finnish Lapland

During the winter school holidays, Edelweiss is further expanding its already significantly enhanced service to Finnish Lapland. From February 5th to March 5th, 2027, Kittilä will have an additional flight every Friday. From February 2nd to March 2nd, 2027, a new connection to Rovaniemi will also be offered on Tuesdays.

Whether it's the Northern Lights, snow-covered forests, reindeer safaris or winter sports: with the additional flights, guests have even more opportunities to discover the Nordic winter during the sports holidays.

These additions complement the expansion of the winter flight schedule 2026/27, which was already announced in July. Flights can now be booked on flyedelweiss.com and via the usual booking channels.

Edi Wolfensberger has many years’ leadership experience in the aviation industry and has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the Executive Board at Eurowings since April 2022. Previously, the 45-year-old Swiss national served, amongst other roles, as COO of Brussels Airlines and Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG. He began his career in 2008 at SWISS, where he held various positions in the finance and commercial departments.

Bernd Bauer and his team have developed the company superbly in recent years and successfully positioned it as a premium holiday airline. Bernd Bauer had a decisive influence on Edelweiss during his twelve-year tenure. Under his leadership, the company developed from a holiday airline with just under 500 employees into a leading Swiss premium holiday airline, which today employs almost 1,700 people. During this period, the route network was expanded from around 40 to over 100 destinations, the number of passengers carried tripled, and the fleet and product range were continuously modernised. At the same time, he gave the Edelweiss brand a fresh and contemporary image and strengthened its positioning as a premium holiday airline. Key milestones include the expansion of the long-haul business with the introduction of the Airbus A340, and more recently the introduction of the Airbus A350 and the new generation of cabins. Furthermore, Bernd Bauer successfully steered Edelweiss through the COVID-19 pandemic and laid the foundations for the company’s current strength.

Bernd Bauer turned 60 last year. Within the Lufthansa Group, executives generally retire from operational duties upon reaching the age of 60. He began his career in aviation in 1994 at Crossair and held various management roles at SWISS from 2002 onwards, before taking over as head of Edelweiss in 2014. From 2022 to 2025, he also served as CEO of Lufthansa’s holiday airline, Discover Airlines, and successfully positioned the fledgling airline in the German leisure travel and tourism market.

Finnish destinations with more flights and longer seasons

The service to Finnish Lapland is expanding particularly significantly. Kittilä will now be served starting at the end of November instead of mid-December. An additional Saturday flight complements the existing schedule. During the winter school holidays, Edelweiss will also offer flights to Kittilä on Tuesdays and Thursdays, bringing the total number of connections to five per week.

Rovaniemi is also starting its season earlier: The capital of Finnish Lapland will be served from the end of November and will now also be served on Fridays. During the peak season, Ivalo will be served three times a week instead of two. Due to strong demand, Kuusamo will receive more nonstop flights.

More offers to Norway and Sweden

The service to Norway and Sweden is also being expanded. Following a successful first season, Luleå in Swedish Lapland will receive a second weekly connection during the peak demand months. Bergen will now also be served in February and March, complementing the existing summer schedule. Due to high demand, Tromsø, one of the most popular starting points for Northern Lights and winter experiences in Northern Norway, will now be served daily.

More frequencies on long-distance routes

On long-haul routes, Edelweiss is deploying additional capacity on particularly high-demand routes during the peak season. Malé in the Maldives will be served with an additional weekly flight from the end of October to mid-January, bringing the total to up to four flights per week. Colombo in Sri Lanka will also receive an additional weekly flight during the same period, with up to three flights per week now offered.

Furthermore, the season to Windhoek in Namibia will now start in mid-March instead of early June as before. This means the destination will be offered for a significantly longer period.

More capacity on popular holiday routes

The service is also being expanded in certain areas of the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, and North Africa. Corfu will now be served until mid-November. Faro will receive an additional frequency throughout the season, with up to five flights per week. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will see increased capacity in the autumn. Most flights to La Palma will now be nonstop instead of via Tenerife, simultaneously freeing up capacity to Tenerife.

The season is also being extended to Crete: Chania will be served until the end of October and Heraklion even until the beginning of December. Marrakech will receive additional flights in February and March. Bari, which was previously only offered during the summer flight schedule, will now also be served over Christmas and New Year's.

With these adjustments to its flight schedule, Edelweiss is responding to the high demand for winter holidays in Northern Europe as well as for sunny and long-haul destinations. The 2026/27 winter flight schedule will include a total of 69 destinations from Zurich in 33 countries, comprising 51 short- and medium-haul destinations and 18 long-haul destinations.

The winter flight schedule is valid from October 25, 2026 to March 27, 2027. All flights are now bookable on flyedelweiss.com and via the usual booking channels.

The inaugural flight was officially launched at Zurich Airport. Céline Vautravers, Manager Network Planning & Development at Edelweiss, and the Edelweiss crew together cut the traditional ribbon, thus officially starting the new holiday route.

Dream beaches and Greek flair

Kefalonia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Ionian Sea and an ideal destination for those seeking sun, sand, and relaxation away from the main tourist crowds. Picturesque beaches, charming coastal towns like Argostoli and Sami, and the impressive natural landscape surrounding Mount Aenos characterize the island. Thanks to its location, Kefalonia is also perfect for island hopping. Ferry connections provide easy access to Zakynthos, other Ionian islands, and the Greek mainland.

Up to two flights per week

Edelweiss connects Zurich with Kefalonia seasonally until mid-September. The route is served with up to two flights per week and complements the Swiss leisure airline's diverse range of flights to Greece.

Before takeoff, the inaugural flight was given a ceremonial send-off at Zurich Airport. Bernd Bauer (CEO of Edelweiss), Rolf Hancock (Vice President Aviation Development of Flughafen Zürich AG) and Matthias Lemcke (Director Europe of the Namibia Tourism Board) symbolically cut the ribbon at the gate together with the crew.

With Windhoek, Edelweiss expands its offering in southern Africa and now provides its guests with a direct connection to one of the continent's most impressive travel destinations.

Edelweiss now flies to Windhoek twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. From mid-July 2026, the service will be expanded to three weekly flights until the end of October. Flights will then operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

With Glasgow, Edelweiss expands its offerings in Scotland to include a second destination alongside Edinburgh. Scotland's largest city captivates visitors with its exciting blend of culture, music, and architecture. Along the River Clyde, magnificent Victorian buildings stand alongside the city's industrial history, while numerous parks provide verdant contrasts within the urban landscape.

Glasgow is considered an ideal starting point for tours through the Scottish Highlands and can be perfectly combined with a side trip to Edinburgh. The city boasts a vibrant music and pub scene, famous sights such as the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Celtic Park football stadium, and is suitable for both varied city breaks and longer holidays in Scotland.

Edelweiss flies from Zurich to Glasgow every Monday and Friday until mid-September.

Since 2016, Edelweiss has named its aircraft after regions according to the motto "Where Edelweiss is at home". in Switzerland, where the edelweiss flower grows. With this, the airline underlines its connection to its homeland and gives each aircraft a special symbolic meaning.

The traditional christening ceremony was performed by Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss, and Wendelin Keller, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoch-Ybrig AG. Representatives from the Einsiedeln-Ybrig-Lake Zurich region and invited guests from business and the media were present.

“With the Airbus A320neo, we are opening a new chapter at Edelweiss. This modern and efficient aircraft allows us to offer our guests an even more enjoyable travel experience. With the name ‘Hoch-Ybrig’, we also bring a piece of the Swiss mountain world to destinations around the globe.”

The naming has also been met with great enthusiasm in the region. Wendelin Keller: "We are proud that an Edelweiss aircraft will now bear the name Hoch-Ybrig. Our region stands for nature, relaxation, and authentic experiences – values that perfectly suit Edelweiss and its guests."

With the introduction of the Airbus A320neo, Edelweiss is further advancing the continuous modernization of its short- and medium-haul fleet. By 2028, a total of six aircraft of this type will be part of the fleet.

The route to Windhoek in Namibia will also be expanded. From July 15, 2026, Edelweiss will offer three new weekly flights. In addition to the existing Monday and Friday services, an extra flight will be operated on Wednesdays.

For autumn 2026, Edelweiss is also planning additional flights to holiday destinations in the Indian Ocean to meet the seasonally increased demand for beach holidays.

Expansions on short-haul routes
Edelweiss is expanding its short-haul flight offerings with additional capacity to popular holiday destinations. These include Faro, Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, Newquay, Bergen, and Santiago de Compostela. Further adjustments to the short-haul schedule are being reviewed continuously.

Flights are now bookable at flyedelweiss.com and through all usual sales channels. With these measures, Edelweiss is responding flexibly to current demand trends and utilizing available capacity to further develop its services.

In addition, Edelweiss is adjusting its services in the upcoming winter flight schedule 2026/27: Flights to Muscat and Salalah in Oman will not be operated.

The adjustments are primarily due to the ongoing effects of the geopolitical situation, particularly in connection with the Middle East conflict, the development of fuel prices, and declining demand for certain destinations in the USA.

Affected passengers will be contacted by Edelweiss or their booking agent. They will be rebooked on alternative flights, primarily via other Lufthansa Group hubs, or will receive a full refund of the ticket price upon request.

The Airbus A320neo represents a new generation of aircraft characterized by greater efficiency and an improved environmental footprint. Thanks to state-of-the-art engine technology and aerodynamic enhancements, the Airbus A320neo consumes significantly less fuel and consequently produces less CO₂ emissions and noise compared to previous generations.

The new aircraft also offers advantages for passengers: The cabin impresses with a modern appearance, improved comfort and a more pleasant travel experience.

The first commercial flight of Edelweiss's new Airbus A320neo is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026. The aircraft will take off for Larnaca in the morning, followed by another flight to Rhodes in the afternoon.

With the introduction of the Airbus A320neo, Edelweiss is further advancing the continuous renewal of its fleet and making a targeted investment in more sustainable and future-oriented aviation. Edelweiss will add a total of six Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet by 2028.

Operationally, the Airbus A350 also impressed with its high reliability. The aircraft logged a total of approximately 4,722 flight hours, equivalent to almost 200 days, during which time it flew to 26 different destinations.

The aircraft was used particularly frequently on routes to Pristina, Vancouver, and Las Vegas. On the Zurich-Pristina route, 71 rotations were operated, carrying over 15,000 passengers. Popular holiday destinations such as Ibiza and Edinburgh, as well as long-haul routes to North America, were also among its most important areas of operation.

The aircraft's performance is also reflected in the volume of cargo transported. Over 178,000 pieces of luggage, totaling 2,784 tons, and 1,289 tons of freight were transported by the Airbus A350 HB-IHF in the last 12 months.

Fleet expansion and new long-haul cabin from 2026
The expansion of the Airbus A350 fleet is proceeding according to plan. Following the first aircraft in April 2025, three more Airbus A350s joined the fleet in July and October 2025, and in January 2026. Edelweiss currently operates four aircraft of this type and successfully deploys them on long-haul routes.

An important next step is the introduction of the new long-haul cabin. Under the motto "More space to feel good," Edelweiss combines a modern design with high-quality materials, a calming color palette, and state-of-the-art technology. Guests in all travel classes benefit from enhanced comfort, while Business Class now also offers suites with closable doors for added privacy. The travel experience is further enhanced by modern technologies such as high-resolution screens, Bluetooth audio , and complimentary high-speed internet from Starlink for all passengers.

The first aircraft with the new cabin is expected to enter service in December 2026, with flights bookable from summer 2026. Further converted Airbus A350s will follow gradually until summer 2027, at which point Edelweiss's entire Airbus A350 fleet will be fully equipped with the new cabin concept. In total, Edelweiss's Airbus A350 fleet will eventually consist of six aircraft.

Edelweiss Air AG had been founded just a few months earlier, on October 19, 1995, by Kuoni Reisen AG and Niklaus Grob. Grob became the first CEO of the fledgling airline, whose fleet at that time consisted of two McDonnell Douglas MD-83s. Edelweiss officially commenced operations with its inaugural flight to Larnaca.

To mark its 30th anniversary, Edelweiss celebrated its origins today with a special flight to Larnaca. Guests were greeted with a sweet surprise upon arrival at Larnaca Airport.

The inaugural flight laid the foundation for the airline's continuous development. Today, Edelweiss connects Switzerland with over 100 holiday destinations in Europe, Africa, North and Central America, and the Indian Ocean. Larnaca is still served year-round, and even daily from April to October.

With today's anniversary, Edelweiss looks back on the moment when it all began and at the same time sets a sign for the future: The first flight to Larnaca in 1996 was the starting signal for 30 years of Swiss holiday flying.

The campaign centers on the idea that the journey doesn't end upon landing, but rather truly begins there. Edelweiss focuses on what travelers discover, learn, and experience at their destination – and how they return home with a backpack full of memories and positive feelings.

A ubiquitous symbol reinterpreted, creating a more approachable visual world
A distinctive visual element of the campaign is a newly designed location pin. Unlike classic location markers, it doesn't simply show a point on a map, but rather symbolically represents what a destination means to people on a personal level and what it evokes in them.

The visual language has also been further developed: it is closer to people, their emotions, and genuine moments – warm, authentic, and inspiring. The campaign builds on the well-known Edelweiss campaigns "Been there, done that" and "Leave. Love." and consistently continues their narrative.

"Every Pin a Story" comprises ten image motifs showcasing various destination clusters from Northern Europe to Asia. These are prominently displayed in public spaces, on mega-posters, and permanently at the airport. The campaign is complemented by over 50 destination motifs, which are presented online along the inspiration, decision, and booking stages.

The elegant and modern design of the new aircraft livery, featuring darker shades of red and blue and the characteristic red wave pattern, is reflected in the interior. Inspired by comfortable, inviting sofas, the interior exudes a sense of calm while simultaneously conveying a high-quality and contemporary feel. This inspiration is complemented by elements of contemporary Swiss architecture. Reduced forms, clean lines, and selectively used patterns define the cabin's appearance. Fine details and high-quality workmanship underscore the premium standard in all travel classes.

Compared to the previous cabin, the color scheme has been deliberately reduced. This conscious reduction creates a sense of calm and harmony. Shades of blue, in their various forms, characterize the overall appearance.

Edelweiss Economy: Timeless, clear and inviting
The new Edelweiss Economy cabin impresses with its high-quality, clean design. Subtle, blue woven fabrics create a calm, timeless ambiance. Fine stitching details give the seats an elegant, tailored look. Overall, the interior appears harmonious and inviting.

All seats offer approximately three centimeters more legroom compared to the previous cabin, as well as a greater seat tilt angle, which noticeably increases comfort on long journeys.

Edelweiss Premium Economy: More premium and noticeably more space
With the new cabin, Edelweiss is strategically expanding its premium offerings and simultaneously increasing the proportion of premium seats on board. The new Edelweiss Premium Economy features 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration with approximately one meter of legroom and a high-quality hard-shell seat, similar to those used on other Lufthansa Group airlines.

The darker, more elegant color scheme underscores the premium aspirations. Guests enjoy a welcome drink even before takeoff. During the flight, they benefit from an expanded food selection, served on china on a tablecloth. Alcoholic beverages are included. Noise-canceling headphones from Edelweiss Business Class provide added comfort.

Edelweiss Business: First-class comfort with direct aisle access
The new Edelweiss Business combines high comfort with a cabin layout tailored to holidaymakers. The continuous 1-2-1 seating configuration offers every guest direct aisle access. Approximately half of the seats are designed as double seats and are ideal for couples traveling together.

The seats can be fully converted into a flat bed, allowing for restful sleep on long journeys. Dark blue tones, a unique woven upholstery, and carefully selected wood surfaces characterize the comfortable cabin design.

Edelweiss Business Suite: Exclusivity meets maximum privacy
The new Edelweiss Business Suite is designed for guests with the highest demands for privacy and comfort. The seats can be fully converted into a spacious, flat bed. Closable doors, approximately 1.20 meters high, ensure a high degree of privacy , while the large 32-inch monitors provide an immersive cinematic experience. In the In the middle suites, the room divider can be individually adjusted, allowing the suite to be used flexibly for guests traveling together.

A special feature is the generous open foot area, which offers significantly more freedom of movement when lying down. The package is complemented by a comfortable memory foam pillow and a mattress topper for restful sleep, as well as additional storage space for personal hand luggage.

Modern technology for all guests on board
In addition to design and comfort, modern technology plays a central role in the new cabin concept. In all travel classes, guests benefit from free high-speed internet via Starlink, 4K screens with Bluetooth audio connectivity, and a comprehensive inflight entertainment system with over 400 films and series, a 3D flight map, and external cameras. Human-centric lighting supports the natural circadian rhythm on long-haul flights.

The offering is complemented by wireless charging in Edelweiss Premium Economy, Edelweiss Business, and Edelweiss Business Suite, as well as high-performance USB-C and USB-A ports at all seats with up to 60 watts of power, allowing for convenient laptop charging. Additional power outlets are available in Edelweiss Business and Edelweiss Business Suite. Noise-canceling headphones provide added comfort in Edelweiss Premium Economy, Edelweiss Business, and Edelweiss Business Suite.

Availability
The first aircraft with the new cabin will enter service in December 2026. Flights will be bookable from summer 2026. Further converted Airbus A350s will follow gradually in January, February, April, May, and July 2027. By summer 2027, Edelweiss's entire Airbus A350 fleet will be equipped with the new cabin.

In the future, charging electronic devices such as mobile phones or tablets using power banks during flights will not be permitted. A maximum of two power banks may be carried per passenger. Storage in the overhead compartment is not allowed. Power banks must either be carried on the person or stored in the seat pocket or as hand luggage under the seat in front. Transport in checked baggage remains prohibited. This regulation is based on the current recommendations of the international aviation organizations EASA, FAA, IATA, and ICAO.

The rollout is part of the Lufthansa Group's announced connectivity initiative, which is equipping its fleet of approximately 850 aircraft across the group with state-of-the-art satellite technology for onboard internet. The aim is to provide passengers across all travel classes with an online experience comparable to that on the ground. Applications such as messaging, streaming, and cloud-based work should thus be easily usable even during flights.

For Edelweiss, the new internet solution is another important building block in the continuous development of the travel experience on both short- and long-haul flights. This investment underscores Edelweiss's commitment to offering its guests contemporary comfort, modern technologies, and a high-quality product throughout the entire travel chain.

The exact timetable for the gradual equipping of the Edelweiss fleet is currently still being planned.

Glasgow will be served by flights every Monday and Friday from May 29th to September 14th, 2026. Scotland's largest city combines Victorian architecture with modern culture, a vibrant music scene, and a rich football tradition. Thanks to its location, Glasgow is ideal for a city break, as well as a perfect base for tours through the Scottish Highlands or in combination with Edinburgh.

With Kefalonia, Edelweiss expands its Greek offerings to include another Ionian island. Flights will operate every Tuesday and Saturday from June 6th to August 29th, 2026. Kefalonia offers relaxing beach holidays away from the crowds, with diverse beaches, charming port towns like Argostoli and Sami, and impressive natural landscapes surrounding Mount Aenos. The island is also ideal for island hopping.

As previously announced, Edelweiss is adding Windhoek to its long-haul network. Starting June 1, 2026, Namibia's capital city will be served twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. Windhoek is the ideal starting point for tours throughout Namibia – from the dunes of the Namib Desert and Etosha National Park to the Atlantic coast. With this new connection, Edelweiss further expands its offerings in Southern Africa, complementing its existing destinations of Cape Town, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

More frequencies and a longer season in short and medium distance racing
In southern Europe, additional frequencies are available on several routes. Faro will now be served daily during the summer holidays. From mid-May, the service to Kalamata will be expanded to three weekly flights. In Corsica, the season to Calvi will be extended into the autumn holidays. In addition, there will be two new weekly flights to Figari.

The Azores remain a key focus in the summer flight schedule. With the connection to Terceira, introduced last year, and the addition of Ponta Delgada, up to four weekly flights to the archipelago are offered.

Furthermore, Edelweiss is increasing connections to other European holiday destinations. Bergen, Zadar, and Tbilisi will now be served three times a week. Larnaca will be served with an additional flight starting in July. Bristol, which has been part of the route network since summer 2025, will now be offered starting at Easter and will thus be included in the entire summer flight schedule. The season to Varna in Bulgaria will begin as early as June 7, 2026. Santiago de Compostela in Spain will now remain in the flight schedule until the autumn school holidays.

Expansion of long-haul services in North America and the Caribbean
In North America, service will be further expanded on several routes. Seattle will be served again from June 1, 2026, with three weekly flights starting June 25. Halifax will now remain on the schedule until October 18, 2026, thus also covering the popular fall season in Nova Scotia. Vancouver will be served starting May 5, 2026, with daily service beginning June 13, 2026. This expansion addresses the high demand during the summer months – partly due to the Swiss national team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver.

The popular long-haul connections to Tampa Bay, Denver, Las Vegas and Calgary will remain part of the flight schedule and will continue to provide a wide selection of attractive holiday destinations in North America.

Edelweiss is also maintaining its attractive offerings in the Caribbean. The popular destination of Punta Cana will be served with three weekly flights during the spring and summer holidays, thus remaining an important part of its long-haul network.

The dismantling of the existing interior has already begun. Over the coming months, the space will be gradually converted to meet Edelweiss's future needs. The new Edelweiss space is scheduled to open in summer 2026. The upper floor will house additional office space focused on Edelweiss's assessment and training programs. The ground floor will be designed as a versatile space for events and inspiration.

Edelweiss has had its headquarters in The Circle since summer 2021. "We've settled in very well here over the past four and a half years and offer our employees a modern and inspiring work environment," says Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss. With the additional space, they now want to take the next step: "Travel begins with inspiration. With our expanded presence in The Circle, we want to create space for precisely that – for our employees, as well as for people who want to be inspired by the world of Edelweiss travel."

The expansion is also welcomed by the landlord. "We are delighted that Edelweiss is taking over this attractive space on the main square in The Circle after the expiration of the lease with the previous tenant, Omega," says Stefan Feldmann, Head of The Circle at Flughafen Zürich AG. "Edelweiss's planned concept enriches the offerings in The Circle and further strengthens the location."

The film "More Than Just Flying" is a key element in Edelweiss's employer branding and is used specifically in the recruitment of pilots. It offers flight-qualified individuals an authentic glimpse into the daily work and culture in the Edelweiss cockpit, helping them assess whether this environment is a good fit for them. At the same time, the film helps Edelweiss to specifically target those individuals who are a good professional and personal match for the Edelweiss cockpit.

Working in the Edelweiss cockpit

Edelweiss offers pilots a diverse working environment. Short- and long-haul flights take them to a wide variety of holiday destinations worldwide. Thanks to the Mixed-Fleet Flying (MFF) model, Edelweiss pilots fly different aircraft types, adding further variety to their daily cockpit routine. With the new Airbus A350, Edelweiss also utilizes state-of-the-art technology.

Furthermore, Edelweiss offers flexible options to combine flight operations with ground duties. This allows pilots to tailor their work to their individual needs – for example, if they do not wish to fly full-time on a permanent basis.

For the production of the film "More Than Just Flying," Edelweiss once again collaborated with the Zurich-based video agency Lauschsicht. Their knack for authentic storytelling and their aviation expertise gained from previous Edelweiss projects, including the films documenting the first landing of the Airbus A350, were decisive factors in their decision.

With Luleå, Edelweiss is adding a destination in Sweden to its route network for the first time. The city lies approximately 100 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle and is considered the gateway to holidays in Swedish Lapland. Snow-covered expanses, Arctic winter landscapes, and the experience of the Northern Lights make the region a unique travel destination. Luleå offers access to numerous winter activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile tours, and hikes in national parks, and is also an ideal starting point for tours through Swedish Lapland.

With Luleå, Edelweiss complements its existing range of winter destinations in the far north, which includes Kuusamo, Ivalo, Rovaniemi and Kittilä in Finland as well as Tromsø and Evenes in Norway.

Flights to Luleå will take place every Friday nonstop from Zurich until March 27, 2026.

Business Class: Swiss indulgence with refinement
Business Class passengers can look forward to a varied menu with typical Swiss flair. The centerpiece is Capuns in a delicate cheese sauce, offering guests authentic Swiss flavor. These are complemented by seasonal creations and lovingly prepared desserts. A highlight is the fruity mango tapioca mousse, which will continue to be offered due to very positive guest feedback. "We tailor the dishes to ensure they remain fresh, appealing, and suitable for in-flight consumption. They should evoke a sense of vacation and convey a taste of Swiss culinary delight right from takeoff," explains René Bleiker, Head of Catering at Edelweiss.

Economy Class: Swiss classics served up anew
Even in Economy Class, you can enjoy fresh Swiss classics on board. Hearty dishes like Älplermagronen (Alpine macaroni and cheese) with caramelized apple cubes offer familiar comfort. The menus are rounded off with select desserts, such as dark Toblerone mousse or apple pie.

Diversity, quality and Swiss identity
With its carefully selected menus, Edelweiss underscores its Swiss identity, bringing seasonal freshness and regional specialties to the skies. From the very start, the dishes set the mood for the most wonderful time of the year. A culinary highlight above the clouds.

Edelweiss, in close cooperation with its sister company SWISS, thoroughly inspected all aircraft last night and carried out the necessary software updates on schedule. The entire A320 fleet is fully operational. There was no impact on our passengers. All flights operated without restrictions or delays.

With Praia, another new destination is being added to the Cape Verde archipelago: The inaugural flight departs tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, 2025. Flights to São Vicente and Praia will operate weekly, with a stopover on the island of Sal. Both destinations offer the perfect starting point for island hopping. São Vicente and its neighboring island of Santo Antão are well-connected by ferry and are considered a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. Many tours of the Cape Verde islands begin here.

With the addition of São Vicente and Praia, Edelweiss expands its portfolio to four destinations in Cape Verde, offering a sunny and diverse travel destination in the Atlantic. The islands impress with their varied landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality – ideal for those seeking relaxation and discovery away from mass tourism.

The holiday destination has already been announced and will be served for the first time starting June 1, 2026. Edelweiss flies twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) to Windhoek, Namibia. Frequency increases and seasonal adjustments

Seattle : The service, which began in summer 2025, will be expanded to three weekly flights next summer. The season begins on June 1 with two weekly flights (Mondays and Saturdays), and an additional Thursday flight will be added starting June 22. From mid-June to early July 2026, the city will be one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup, making it a particularly attractive destination for sports fans.

Halifax : Starting May 7, the destination will begin its second season with two weekly flights, Thursdays and Sundays. Travelers will now have the opportunity to experience Nova Scotia's spectacular nature from spring through Indian summer.

Punta Cana : Between Easter and Pentecost, as well as during the summer holidays, Edelweiss will increase its frequency to three flights per week. In addition to the existing service, an additional flight will be operated every Friday (Easter to Pentecost) and Sunday (summer holidays).

Tampa Bay : During spring break, service will be expanded to three weekly flights (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays), giving guests more flexibility for travel to Florida during the holiday season.

Cape Town : Flights are extended until June 16, making Edelweiss' longest South African season to date.

Colombo : The non-stop flights that started on October 27, 2025, will be offered until May 30.
